Does 7D show audio levels like the 5D?
Posted by Joseph Wilkins on May 24, 2011 at 12:50 pmSo I have a 5D.. and annoying as it is that is does not display during capture, at least I can visually see my audio levels peaking in the Live Video mode menu before rolling.
Does the 7D have this feature? I just bought one and cannot find it.
Thanks

May 24, 2011 at 1:58 pmNo, and even if you did, you still couldn’t do anything about it, since there are no audio controls

May 27, 2011 at 7:56 pmYes, the 7D is all auto everything when it comes to audio… and even if you could control the gain it would NOT be an option for proper audio recording. It is just not built for Pro Audio. You really need to invest in a separate audio recorder (like a Sound Devices 702 recorder if you are serious… or if on a budget a Zoom H4n) and sync in Post. Right now you can use Plural Eyes ($99) to sync but it looks like FCPX will have this capability built into it when it when it is released next month.
