docking station freezes after 120g of transfer
Hey,
Not sure if im in the correct category but… I have a number of docks for sata hard drives. Some are usb some are sata but i seem to be having the same trouble on all docks. When transferring large folders (120g+) at a point for no apparent reason the transfer freezes. The only way to get the drive going again is to turn it off and reboot the computer. I have 2 machines that im using.
Imac quad 2.8 4gb ram osx 10.6.3
duel 2.3 powerpc 2gb ram 10.4.11on both machines the problem happens with different docking station brands.
Docks are: communicator 2 and NexStarId love to solve this one.

If it’s happening wi multiple computers and multiple brand docking stations then it’s NOT the docking stations.
It’s ether the data you are copying or perhaps the drive that you are putting into the docking stations.
Does the same issue happen with a different drive in the drive dock?
Does the same issue happen when attempting to copy a different chunk of data?Hindsight is always 1080p

Yeh it’s happening to different drives with un related data. My first thought was over heating so I blasted it with a fan and got the same result. I bought the second dock to see if it was that brand dock. But no. I’m really stumped!

Have you tried it with a completely different set of data or are you always trying with the same 120 gb of data.

Nope. Different data. But always large quantitys of video files.

What format are the drives?
