    Hi everyone,
I’m currently very interested in learning after effect, but, I have a question. I use Sony Vegas right now, and I’m really comfortable with it. I downloaded the trial for premiere and it seems somewhat more complex and it would need some getting used to. So, my question is: would it make a huge difference if I just stayed with Sony Vegas, or should I switch and make it easier for myself in the long run.
    Thanks everyone!

Oh, also, side question. Right now, my camcorder records onto mini DVD disks in the .vod format, I THINK. On Sony Vegas, it’s really easy to just import them into .mpg and start editing. For premiere, I couldn’t find an Import from DVD option or anything, and if I put the .mpg that I imported from Vegas into Premiere, there is no audio. I already know that .mpg is not the optimal file format to edit in, and I know that DV AVI or something similar would work better, but I can’t find a converter that will do that for me. All the ones I have tried either screw up the aspect ratio or are really low quality. Could someone direct me to a converter that can convert .mpg files into an editable format? Or if there’s just a direct way from the DVD to that format?

I’m a student(not for film school)/video hobbyist. My budget? Well, I’m really trying to figure out if I need to switch the Premiere or not for AE. Obviously, if I could, I would stick with Sony since it would save me money, as well as time to learn Premiere. I intend to make some shorts maybe some music videos, or things of that sort. I also want to learn to do some special effects with AE. Would it be possible to state the pros and cons of switching to Premiere VS not switching?
    Thanks for your help!
