Do I need a dvcam player to capture dvcam-footage?
…or can I use my old mini-DV camera to capture the dvcam material? (it’s dvcam on a mini-dv tape)

Nope, you’ll need a DVCAM deck to record or playback to the DVCAM format. The ‘pitch’ and speed of the DVCAM tape is different the standard MiniDV.
