Running into a weird issue here… on my home machine I was transcoding red files to dnxhd 80 from within media composer and everything was fine.

Today I get into work and load up the project on my work machine, all the transcoded clips say “Unsupported (hd 1080i)” in the format tab and in the viewer.

Strange considering it’s a dnxhd codec… in any case, just as a test I tried to transcode one of the clips again to dnxhd 80 from my work machine, but the option was not even there anymore.

Anyone know whats going on here?

DNxHD 80? I’ve never heard of that. 1080i has the options for DNxHD 220/200x, 145…and 1080p30 has DNxHD 45. The closest I see to DNxHD80 is DNxHD90, and that you get with 720p 23.98 only.

    Oh, there is DNxHD75…but that’s 720p 29.97.

    [Shane Ross] “DNxHD 80?”

I believe it was introduced in 6.5 and is an option under a 1080 23.976 project.

To the OP – is your home machine running version 6.5 and the work machine 6.0 or earlier? Is so, that’s the issue. You’ll need to upgrade the work machine or transcode to a compression native to both machines – like DNxHD36.

AHA! Michael is right. It is a 6.5 thing. My machine here at work only has 6.0.3 on it. I opened Symphony 6.5 on my laptop and saw DNxHD80.

yeah, if you use that in 6.5, and try to open the project in 6.0…you won’t be able to.
