DIY Full Size 3 Axis Camera Gimbal for Canon 5D or large cameras
Hi, I’m a long time contributor to COW who has been away for a while. I recently began building a full size Carbon Fiber 3 Axis active stabilized camera rig similar looking to the MoVi but with off the shelf components from around the world. Hi Warren, in the true sense of DIY, it’s determined by what components you use. In my version, I opted for some nice Carbon Fiber parts and 5208 180 motors. With everything tallied it’s around $1600, but I think you could get it for less now. More hobby companies are offering CNC Carbon gimbal kits for less than $500. Boards are around $250. SmallHD monitor is around $500, Okii controller – $250, Joystick, $60..and so on.

Hi everyone, I took the time and compiled together a full page of references for you to read on if you are interested in assembling your own 3-Axis Brushless Gimbal, I decided to go with Came-7000 from Came-tv.com because their product is sturdy, their customer service is good, and I got the kit within 3 days. Even cinematographer Tom Antos feels this is the best within the price range (under $1k).
