DiVX watermark
I was recently given several AVI files encoded with the xVid codec to edit in FCP. They play fine on my PC but I get no audio on my Mac. I have a registered DiVX pro codec, the AC3 codec, the xVid, 3ivx and Perian codecs installed. NO audio. Nada. So I transcoded them on the PC using Cleaner XL to Quicktime files using the Sorensen 3 codec. Now I have .mov files that play fine on the Mac but they now have a DiVX watermark that does not exist in the AVI originals! I have a registered DiVX Pro codec, so why the watermark? Any ideas?

Call DIVX. Just because you bought your copy and registered it properly, doesn’t mean your computer has figured it out. Maybe you updated and forgot to enter the serial again, dunno.
AFAIK, their watermark only appeared when working with demo copies of their older pro versions. You may have inadvertently downgraded your pro version to an earlier rev.
