Dissapearing sound
Posted by Göran Thorén on November 28, 2008 at 10:31 amHi all.
Recently installed Kona 3 on my new Mac Pro.
A couple of times a day the audio output goes down and no audio from the Mac is there.
If I shut down and restart FCP the sound comes back. This happens when I switch between different programs.I run Kona 6.0.1
Any Ideas?

December 2, 2008 at 12:49 amin the AJA Utilities folder, there is an UNINSTALLER for the software. Please uninstall the AJA software, reboot, and then reinstall the AJA software.

December 2, 2008 at 12:51 amI did not ask you an obvious question – what are you listening to ?
Are you listening to the output of the AJA Kona, or are you listening to the output of your MAC. You MUST listen to the output of the Kona. If you have the Kona 3, you need the K3 box to get analog out, or if you do not, you need an AES – analog converter, or a mixer that has AES inputs. You cannot proceed listening to the output of the MAC audio (you may not be doing this, but you did not explain how you were monitoring the audio).Bob Zelin

December 2, 2008 at 7:16 amHi Bob.
I have all my audio monitoring via Aja in to a Mackie mixer.
So everything that goes out from the Mac, Final cut, After effects, Pro tools, Itunes or what ever goes through the Aja card. Now I also have a problem with the audio synch when I jump between different apps. The only solution is to restart Final Cut.
Worth mentioning is that this is a brand new editing station.
I have just switched from a G5 Power PC with a Decklink SD card to
a Mac Pro with Aja Kona 3. -

December 5, 2008 at 10:01 pmThis happens sometimes with our Dual 2.5 G5 and AJA IO when switching between AfterFX and FCP. I always thought it had to do with one or the other hogging Quicktime. Restarting FCP always brought back the audio.

December 11, 2008 at 6:22 pmI’ve has the same problem when monitoring audio out of the RCA jacks. It was suggested to me to restart the Mac while resetting the P-RAM (Cmd-Opt-P-R keys) It normally worked but the problem did come back eventually. AJA just replaced the card a few weeks ago and so far, so good.
