I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to edit footage recorded using Nikon D800. I am using HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with following configuration.

    Inter Core 7
    RAM: 12 GB
    System Type: 64-bit
Graphics card: Inter HD Graphics Family + Radeon HD 6770M

While editing video, my screen goes blank and comes back with an error “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”. Premiere is still running while this error is displayed on the notification bar. After receiving this error, I only hear audio on Premiere and no video. To recover, I have to restart Premiere. It runs for little bit and then crashes again. Sometime, it does not crash for hours and sometime it crashes every 2 minutes.

    See attached screenshot.

I have an ASUS hybrid laptop with only 6 gb ram and Intel HD 3000 family + nvidia geforce 610M 2gb graphics card for my onroad edits. These hybrid pcs are not the best machines for Premiere, i found lots of problems to enable Mercury Playback Engine in GPU mode, all of them in CS5.5. But…. In Premiere CS5 it worked more or less, the problem was when i closed the program, i had to force it to closing because it get hanged everytime, but anyway i could make my edits without further problems. Last week i updated Intel HD 3000 family with latest drivers, and installed a nvidia driver i found over the internet (not in nvidia site, as in there i couldn´t find drivers for my graphics card). After doing all this, i installed CS6 and voilá! Now i´m editing with MPE enabled and it´s running very smoothly. I don´t know if the solution was updating drivers or installing CS6 with the latest updates, the fact is that now it works fine.

You won´t be able to enable MPE in GPU mode as your second graphics card is not nvidia, but anyway you should run premiere in software mode without problems. This said, i think the problem is your graphics cards driver install. Perhaps you need a clean install of the latest drivers for both graphics card, and of course, an update of Premiere CS6 to 6.0.3 if you have not done it yet.

    Hello,

I`m also have ASUS with 610M card (but only 1 gb). I found the drivers, I added my card to list of supported CUDA. Premiere CS6 starts with MPE mode… but… at preview I have a black screen. I do not see any video. Have you seen this problem before?
