Hi, I’m working on some pretty heavy AE project and I got to the point when it’s so slow it’s almost unbearable.
I’m looking for ways to optimize my project and the best one I found so far is to disable layers, that are outside of FOV of my active camera so AE won’t waste time calculating something that can’t be seen at the moment.
Is there some technique to automate this? To let AE check for layers outside of FOV and temporarilly diable them?

Ae already does frustrum culling automatically — that is, not rendering layers outside the active viewport.

There are a few things that might cause Ae to try to render one of these layers. Perhaps you’re using it in a compound effect, or referencing it with an expression? Or perhaps you’re using multiple views (not just the active camera view)?

I’d suggest precomposing [link] heavier layers and using proxies to speed things along.
