  • Disable a layer at a specific time?

Hi, I’m new to expressions and I’ve tried my best to find out how to do this…I see there is a property called active which returns a 1 if the layer is active and a 0 if it is not.

The second question related to this is since this is a general layer property, where do I add the expression? (In other words, which “stopwatch” do I alt-click on and enter this expression?)

I’m trying to disable a layer at a given time. Lowering the opacity isn’t an option unfortunately!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Ross

Well, try changing the In and the Out Points to disable your layer. It is one alternative. But if it is not posible, I can’t help because I could connect a Checkbox Control (Effect/Expression Controls/Checkbox control) to the active switch, but I was unable to do the inverse.

    The stopwatch is in red:

    active is a read-only property,

so you can ask if a layer is active (it’s eyeball is on, and the time is between it’s in- and out-point)

But you cannot assign an expression somewhere to ‘click’ the eyeball for you, or move the in- or outpoint.

why is opacity zero not an option ?
