direct MXF import

I’m assuming these are on 2 different machines?

If so…

You don’t “import” MXF files. You add them to the project through the media tool.

You need to add the files to the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/# folder (# being the highest numbered folder in the MXF folder).

Once you do this, Avid should scan the folder and find the file. Then use the media tool too add the file to the project.

If Avid doesn’t scan the folder, quit Avid, and delete the 2 database files in the # folder (msmFMID.pmr” and “msmMMOB.mdb”) then relaunch Avid. Avid should then find the files, and you can use the media tool to find them.

If the files are on the same machine, just from a different project, skip everything above and just use the media tool to add the files into your project.

Great..I found them after following your directions. How do I get them into a bin in the project I am working on.

Just drag them from the media tool into any (new or existing) bin. Done.

I do so but the following message appears:

Some of the items arriving in this bin are currently marked not to display in this bin. The items have arrived safely.

I go through and check everything in bin preferences but still I do not see the items – what am I missing?

Sounds like “set bin display” settings are set to not display master ciips. In the receiving bin, select “Set bin display” and make sure master clips are selected and active.

Master clips is indeed on. Still no luck.

As I mentioned in previous posts – I checked everything including that. None of this worked so I just used media tool and consolidated directly from his drive without the mxf stuff. Thanks anyway guys.
