Digitzing into 23.98 AVID project
We are on AVID Media Composer 2.7 – PC based computers. The problem we are having is digitizing HDCam 23.98 tapes into a 23.98 AVID project. Some of the tapes are getting interlaced after we digitize them. Sometimes we can remedy the problem by redigitizing the tape, but this has been taking too much time up and doesn’t always work. Have you heard of this problem before? I don’t know what camera was used because this was shot many years ago.

I was wondering if this interlacing problem has to do with the pulldown. If I am in a 23.98 project and digitize footage is there possibly a pull down issue. I will see how many frames might be interlacing. Thx! e

Are you prelogging? Capturing on the fly? What are your 24p/Film settings set to?

We’ve tried both digitizing on the fly and prelogging and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I am digitizing from a 23.98 tape into a 23.98 project I have the Edit Play Rate at 23.976 and the video pulldown cadence at Standard 2:3:2:3 pulldown. For the Set pulldown Phase it varies. I sometimes choose A frame, but it can come in jittery. So I will try B, then X, etc. until I get it right. Any ideas? Do you need any more information?
