I’m working off of a macbook pro. I am trying to digitize mini DV through FCP, wherein the program is not recognizing the device. It does, however crash the program and any other program when the camera is turned on. It was not doing this yesterday as I digitized a good hour of tape. I’ve never had this problem before. Is it a connection problem (I.E. bad firewire), or does my FCP not like my camera??

This sounds like it might be a situation where quicktime was corrupted. I would try trashing your quicktime receipts at HD > Library > Receipts (back them up before you do it for peace of mind). See if that helps.

Hmm. No luck. The camera is behaving as though the firewire port is busted, although the computer is clearly responding when I turn the Minidv cam on and off. I am very cautious when I plug in anything firewire, so it doesn’t seem to make sense. I rarely use a device such as a camcorder so I can’t see that I overused or burnt it out. Any other suggestions??
