I’m getting this message today whenever I try to digitize a new tape: (I mark my in & out and press capture clip…)

    “Additional Items Found

An Item outside of your current selection has been found to reference media about to be processed during this operation.

If you add this item to your selection, an additional 32GB of space will be required for an additional 00:40:13;22 of media referenced by this item

If you select Continue, this item will not be added to your selection, and it might be taken offline.”

This is a new source tape and shouldn’t have any reference to anything….I’ve renamed my Project, trashed preferences (using FCP rescue)…I logged the clip and tried to batch capture but still the same message. I am also finding that when I try to digitize it deletes other material. The weird thing is that on batch capture the ‘insert tape’ box I see unfamiliar logging info and it seems it even wants to try to capture an .aiff file that I never selected!!?? I can use “Capture now” without any problems…

    Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks very much!

(I did manage to batch capture a clip that FCP had previously deleted during this process, but it captured more black at the end of the tape than originally logged…not sure why…)

Sounds like you’ve done the usual, dumped prefs, repaired permissions. Are these subclips or clips that may have the same name as other clips, this sounds like a Media Manager or Re-capture issue.

I have the same problem. Its hard to know what exactly the files are that it is referencing because it doesn’t list them. If you select “add” it just shows you the file names as it is trying to digitize from the tape..and since I didn’t want it to overwrite my files, I cancelled that before I could see all that it was referencing. These are files that were perfectly online before this error occurred and should never have been referenced or in need reconnecting. Just started my own post of it but here’s what it said:

I am digitizing mini dv footage on a G5 to a 2TB Lacie firewire drive. Just yesterday I received the error – “Additional Items Found- 6 items outide of your current selection have been found to reference media about to be processed druing this operation. If you add these items to your selection, an additional 46.8GB of disk space will be required for an additional 08:16:13:05 of media referenced by these items. If you select continue these items will not be added to your selectionand might be taken offline- ADD, CONTINUE, ABORT”
I was selecting continue because there didn’t seem to be any way around it and knew that i didn’t want to capture an additional 8hrs of footage. I also figured that eventhough it said it may cause some things to go offline in the project, thought i could always reconnect to them because the clip files are on the drive. This happened with every tape I tried to digitize. One time i selected “add” so that i could see what else it was referencing and it was some clips from the prior week that had nothing to do with what i was digitizing- not similar reel names or anything. So i cancelled and restarted my capturing, selecting continue again. Everything seemed normal when i left. All my video clips i digitized were in my project ready to go. So today I came in and opened it up and it said i had a bunch of files offline. I selected to reconnect and searched for the files (which included all of the clips i had done yesterday and some other clips from last week that it had wanted to reference during digitizing) and none could be found. Luckily the clips from the prior week were already backed up on another drive, but everything from yesterday was lost. I also tried to batch capture some of the offline clips that I had digitized yesterday and I am still getting the “additional items found” error. Why does it want to reference and redigitize old clips that are online when i am capturing new material and why did it delete the clips i had captured?? I just trashed the fcp prefs and that did nothing to help my problem. Also tried copying and pasting all of material from my project into a new project. No luck. Please help.
