Digitizing and MultiClip
Recorded 3 camera DVC Pro HD along with a line record to deck. Apparently cameras are at 30fps and deck recorded at 60fps. I can’t change that in the settings unless someone knows a way. Problem is I cannot group the line cut with the iso cuts in a multiclip because of the different frame rates.
Any suggestions?
And is the easy setup for DVC Pro HD 30 or 60 the way to go without touching any of the settings?

Never used that machine or those cameras but you should be able to easily drop your 60fps into a 30 fps sequence, render, export, import.

it’s not allowing me to import a 60 as a 30 but it is allowing the 30 to come in as a 60. Could this be a problem?
Why does my multiclip video stop playing altought the audio continues? is there a fix?

Did you shoot 720P? If so, DVCPro HD tapes always record at 60P (50P for PAL), regardless of what frame rate the camera is shooting at. That’s just the way it works. You should be able to capture the ISO tapes into FCP as 30P without the extra frames, though, by using the proper capture preset. The linecut tape may not capture properly, though if any of the cuts break the 30 to 60 cadence.

So even though the camera was set at 720p 30 fps it records at 60? I am now bringing everything at 60. Can I dump the files that are recorded at 30 (FPS 29.97) since the 60 is coming in properly? Will I have any problem with quality?
Any idea while the multiclip video freezes but the audio plays?
Last thing, audio is slipping by a few frames. Any idea of a fix? You think changing the setting to 44.1 would help?

Yup. That’s a limitation of the tape. At 30fps, you get 2 identical frames recorded to tape. At 24, you get alternating groups of 2 and 3.

How fast are your hard drives? That’s the first place I’d look.

Being told the latest FCP would allow the mixing in a multi clip of 30 and 60 fps, I upgraded to 6.0 and imported the 30 as 30 and 60 as 60. The multiclip still unable because of frame rate difference. Is there something I must do? I tried the conversion. That didn’t seem to work either.
why can’t things just work?
