I’ve digitized long clips (up to 40 mins). When I play them within the project, they stop – as in, the clip ends – much sooner than the actual media it’s linked to. For example, the quicktime movie in Capture Scratch may be 40 mins, but the corresponding clip in FCPRo will be 20 seconds. There seems to be no time code discontinuity in the captured clip, but regardless, it’s there in the capture scratch folder, in its entiretly, so why isn’t the whole thing showing up in the project?

The onyl solution I found is to re-save the capture-scratch quicktime with a new name, then re-import it to the project… it’s bizarre!

Anybody run across this problem before? Help!

I ran into this just a few weeks ago for some :30 tv spots.

just 1 of the 3 for no apparent reason would only play to the :20 duration
even though opening it outside final cut it would play the full :30

these were dvcpro-hd files that the client changed to uncompressed
10-bit but left at dvcpro-hd resolution and not full raster. It caused
other problems too, a kona-lhe would only show picture garbage
when attempting to do an sd downconvert.

just go with whatever you can do to quickly get around it. thats what I
    do when weirdness happens.

there doesn’t seem to be a method to that particular madness.

    Thank you…

Indeed. No method. Decided to trash all media & preferences and redig. For whatever reason seems to be working now.
