Digital Cut (Native)
Our shop generally does component (digital cuts)/(print to tape) to Beta SP. Works like a charm.
We have added a firewire board to our Sony DSR 1800 and have been capturing (audio,video) thru Firewire.
Now I want to do a Digital Cut Native with the captured DV footage, but I get the error message—-Exception: D/O consumer-Cannot create decompressor of confidence view,
and nothing is put out to tape.
Is there a list of error messages I could look up somewhere? If not, any insight on this message would be niceFinally, if, on my timeline, I have beta sp footage (1:1) mixed with AE motion graphics
mixed with DV footage (thru the firewire), what is the best way to spit it all back out to tape?Adrenalin 1.5.1 XP

Sounds like a resolution issue…I need to think on this one a bit..

Native Cut Native only applies to a timeline with DV25 footage [if I am not mistaken also DV50 to DV50 decks].
I also think your settings [Avid -> Settings -> General] should be set to 720 x 480[David] “Finally, if, on my timeline, I have beta sp footage (1:1) mixed with AE motion graphics

Some lessons learned:
I played with the resolutions (effect aperture) in the General settings…(720×480) and (720×486) and this had no effect that I could see.I could be wrong on this, but that’s my observation thus far.I am convinced that I get the error message(see first post) when I try to do a Native cut with a sequence that has DV footage and Beta mixed thru-out. If the sequence just has Beta footage then I am prompted to trancode to DV resolution. If the footage, in the sequence, is all DV the system is happy. I guess we will be doing mostly component out for digital cuts, because we use alot of Beta footage mixed with DV, and I don’t like DV compression on BetaSP footage, although if there where only one or two shots of Beta then it might make sense to just capture that as DV 25 and digital cut thru iLink.
