While trying to ouput a sequence to a mini dv deck I get digital blocks checkerbording across the screen with the audio dropping out intermittently as well. I have never seen this before in my years of working with system. A Maxtor external hard drive is the only component in this system that I use infrequently. The red blinking light on the drive seems to coincide with the digital schmutz-y checkerboarding blocks. Has anyone seen this before and found a way to resolve this? I really need to get a clean copy of this fast. Please help!

    Thanks In Advance,
    Marala

as a last resort, try consolidating your seq, or, try a mix down so if it is a drive/bandwidth/speed problem you’ll probably leave your drive heads jumping around not so much.

thanks amheus, after exhausting every other possible option I could think of I still have not solved this problem. I tried to mixdown and that didn’t work, shorter firewire, longer firewire, brand new firewire, installed a new drive and then consolidated and moved the media over to the new drive. Now Avid isn’t recognizing my deck (ARRGHH). I’ve tried changing the deck setting to “Generic”, re-booted numerous times, reset output, input changes on deck nothing seems to make a difference. I have used this deck with this system for four years and Avid has recognized it. I did have to have the windows service pack 3 installed to upgrade OS in order to recognize drive but I don’t see how that would make a difference. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks In Advance,
    Marianne
