I just upgraded to CS3 for Mac and I noticed that my Digieffects plug-ins do not work. I went on the Digieffects website and did not see anything in regards to an upgrade coming out. Has anyone heard anything? I have a Mactel 8 core.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for anything new from DigiEffects, it could be fatal. It’s been years since the Digie plug-ins saw any kind of discernible upgrade and they are second only to Eye Candy as the dog slowest plug-ins ever written. Some are even slower than Eye Candy.

These things will require a total rewrite and by the time that happens, After Effects will ship with cranial nodes that read your mind and do what you want and we will be driving sky cars. But DigiEffects will still be in the slow lane.

    Hi Greg,

We’ll have a free update for all products this summer that will provide native Mac Intel compatibility (Cinelook already is native). Until then you can use Digieffects plug-ins and AE CS3 using Rosetta mode.

    Cheers,

They won’t work in AE8 on Intel. This is the case with a number of plug-ins that have yet to be updated for Universal Binary.

I am keeping a legacy version 7 on my Intel Mac Pro so I can use a number of old plug-ins. I too own a number of DigiEffects plug-ins. In a pinch you render out with alpha and pull the clip into AE8 for further production.

BTW those plug-ins are flying under new ownership and purportedly the new company will be releasing new AE products. I don’t know the future of the old plug-ins.

My bad — I read the initial post and not the thread. Great to hear from you Robert. I hope I spoke accurately. Hey, What will be the upgrade path for…

Hi Greg, Maurice, Craig, et al,

Maurice’s statements about Digieffects were very true until May when I acquired the company from the previous owners. Since then we’ve invested quite a bit into engineering (something that hasn’t been done in a long time!) and this summer you’ll see some updates. In the next 6 weeks all Digieffects products will be updated for universal binary. This update will also offer speed enhancements which, as you know well, are sorely lacking. These updates will be totally FREE. On a side note, we just acquired the Buena plug-ins (Depth Cue, Au Naturel, Effect Essentials) and you’ll see updates for these products also.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Thank you Robert for responding. It’s great to see a company that uses these threads to see what real users are saying about their products. This says a lot about a company. I’m very happy with my Digi-Effects plug-ins and can’t wait to see what the new and improved company has to offer.
