  • DigiBeta input to Ultrastudio 4k issue black bar at top

I’m wanting to capture DigiBeta playback to Premiere CC 2015.
    – SDI out from Digibeta 500 to SDI into BM Ultrastudio 4k .
    – Open Premiere capture, set to NTSC.
    – See picture and audio and able to record.
    – TROUBLE IS, the picture is shifted downward and a black bar is on top.
It’s actually cutting off some of the bottom of the frame.
    – The resulting recorded clip has the black bar as well.

I disconnected reference to the machine and to the Ultrastudio 4K box.
If I connect reference to both, or either, this does not fix the problem.

If I open the BM Express app and attempt capture that way,
I still have the exact same issue with the picture being shifted down.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Dan. I’ve probably forgotten more about the Digi Beta than I remember. Make sure the Reference switch is set to External Reference (whether you feed one or not) and not “Input”. This should align the playback video with the proc amp output.

Gary, I was hoping that was it but no, the result is the same whether machine is set to ext ref or input video. If you think of anything else let me know.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Menu 309 is a similar setting and may override the front panel. Make sure it is set to “0” for Auto. I’m pretty sure the deck is shifting down like it is in record or Edit Preset mode. Make sure all editing modes are off and you are using the playback head and not the confidence head to play back. Things like that.
