  • Difficulty playing back SD from HD thru FCP and Decklink HD Pro

Posted by Harry Bromley-davenport on June 13, 2006 at 8:40 pm

I have 23.976 material in an FCP 59.98 timeline using the Blackmagic DVCPro 1080i HDTV codec. It plays back just fine on my Dell 24″ monitor and adds interlaced frames.

When I connect the component output from the Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro (single) to my SD monitor I have set the Decklink 5.5 prefs to:

    Output: SDI & analog Y, B-Y, R-Y

Input: SDI Video & SDI audio

HDTV Up/Down convertor: HD to SD letterbox 16×9

Input 1080i HD to SD letterbox

Black video Output to Deck in Capture : Output:Disabled.

What on earth have I missed? I’m getting no picture. It’s a Sony GVM 2020 Trinitorn monitor.

Any ideas or help of any kind appreciated from an ignoramus.

    Harry.

    Hi Harry,

The Sony GVM 2020 is an RGB monito and will not work with the component YUV output of DeckLink HD Pro card when you’re working in DVCPRO HD.
