I don’t. I much prefer 720/60p as my format of choice.
30p is inbetween film and video so it give you a “quasi-film” look that is generally a little sharper than 24p.

Why do you choose 720 over 1080?

720 is smaller than 1080. smaller files. also the HDX-900 shoots 720p beautifully.

ALso, in the case of DVCPRO HD, 720 is the only format where you get the variable frame rate…for that nice super slow motion look.
We shoot 720p and deliver 1080p…and I can tell you, 720p blown up on a 20 foot screen projected by a Barco projector…looks REALLY good.

We are shooting with the Canon XLH1 and G1. These cameras shoot in either 480 or 1080. How do I get that really nice slow motion look from these?

I like 1080_30p for display purposes. Projectors and screens handle it better, things look sharper than adding pulldown to 24p or deinterlacing 1080i. 30p is easy to display in the edit suite on my trusty CRT, but not 24p for us yet anyway.
My animator likes it better than 24p. It makes his work look smoother.
My shooter likes 24p. He wants that film magic feel.
