I’ve been using Tram TR-50 lav mics to record interviews and to my relatively inexperienced ears I like the sound they are giving me, and I like their price.

Oscar Sound Tech’s OST-802 looks exactly like the Tram, has an identical frequency response chart, and costs quite a bit less. Meanwhile, Posthorn Recordings claims their Sonotrim Lavalier may look like a Tram, but sounds oh so much better and is worth the considerable extra cost.

What is the truth … do the mikes sound the same, worse or better, and are they worth either the savings or the extra cost?

I’m hard wiring the Tram with the TR79 XLR power supply into a Mix Pre D and Tascam DR 100, for play on the internet. (I’m also booming a Sennheiser ME64 at the same time.)
