Difference between .mov or dv
I’m editing videos using a Macintosh, and have the option of saving files as
.mov or .dv . I know .mov is a container and can be used to hold all sorts of
compressions and formats, but I want the best quality, so when I save as .mov
I make sure the data contained is a DV stream.Is there any difference between saving in this way, (ie. .mov containing a DV
stream) and saving as a .dv file? If not, why does the former method result
in files which are twice as big? -

.dv is a DV Stream file. It is a format with muxed video and audio, and AFAIK only used by iMovie on the Mac. It’s not a format you want to use for working in Final Cut.
