Hi- I have a client that wishes to have a DVD with 30 second spots interupt the cable TV that is playing in her waiting rooms. Do you know of a device that could acheive this?

Depending on your budget there are all kinds of hardware/software routers that could do it… really what you are talking about is switching from a cable company signal to your local origination/dvd in this case… right? Automatically?

two video sources, one tv screen or many tv’s getting the same signal(s)

Exactly. Right now budget is what it is and I haven’t had any positive response until now. So talk to me about your solution for an office that has 5 waiting areas with cable broadcast. So any where from 1 to 5 tv’s getting switched to the dvd.

well a nice solution is this

this is a programmable video switcher… no fancy wipes or other transitions just “cuts”… it is capable of anywhere from one dvd player to 8 dvd players… right now i run the the pro16 and have a mix of dvd and svhs players and a media xtreme box for a bulletin board…

the mini t is programmable from the front LED or attach a computer to it via comm cable… i use an old, really old compaq computer that runs the simple scheduling software that tells the mini t when to play the dvd and switch the signal to that dvd… so all the tvs will get it…

Check out http://www.adtecinc.com they have an mpg player that interrupts the signal to play mpgs internally. Keep in mind these usually use the signal sent from teh originator to trigger the switch. these signals can sometimes be blocked by the cable company or you may have to get a license from teh cable company to use this interruption. the beauty part is that it is automatic, you don’t have to have someone there switching it. Call Ron Johnsoon, tell him Charlie King sent you, but only do it if you have a couple hours available to allow him to talk. He does love to talk.
