Today I am not loving FCPX.

I need to separate the audio from one track from the multicam clip I have as I want to place a cutaway above the timeline using the audio only below so I can cut back in at the bit I want without losing the audio. The only way to do this is with separate audio as I could in FCP6.

I can select the clip manually and then try and sync it up by matching it to the clip length, which I have tried, but this is not quite right and strangely slightly out of sync!

Select the clip in the timeline then hold option and drag to copy the clip, drop the copy below (keeping in sync with snap to edges on). Lower the audio on the upper track and use the lower one as if it was only audio. Does that work for your purpose?

Nice work! Perfect. Thanks – should work.

For sure! “Option drag” has been my best friend lately, looking forward to seeing what the next update brings though.
