Desperately looking for the right export settings without recompressing
hi guys
My camera which is Sony SLT-A33 creates full hd movies with around 17Mbps. As we all know when you choose ‘Render as’ and choose the same settings as the source file, Vegas usually doesn’t render the clip giving us in preview window message ‘No need to recoding’ or something like that. I import my clip into Vegas and for further needs just tried to export with the same settings hoping Vegas will not recompress the file but it does. I tried all possible options choosing Sony AVC and different templates but Vegas always is rendering the whole clip. Of course I didn’t make ANY changes to the clip or any transitions. I just was hoping Vegas will copy the source file.
Could someone please help mi to find the right settings ? Here is a raw sample 5 sec video file from my camera (10MB):

This is never going to happen. Vegas Pro only smart renders DV AVI, DV MXF, IMX MXF, HD MXF, MPEG-2 (for files such as those from HDV and DVD camcorders), and some XDCAM EX formats.
AVCHD is not one of the Smart Render formats.

Thanks John, one more thing, would you recommend any program which does the simple file splitting and joining but with the preview of video and can save the final file without recoding ? The default program for such operations from Sony enables preview and split but you can split only in one place and there’s no files joining option either.

I use tsMuxeR to join multiple files .m2ts into one large one but there is no easy way to split or edit a file that I know of. tsMuxeR will allow you to take pieces from a file but it’s very tedious to use.
