Does anyone have any idea where I can obtain some info on designing a complete production facility? I just purchased a 3300 sf building and plan on renovating it and move my office into it. I have 1200 sf presently and definately need the additional space. This will be my only chance to design it properly and to meet future needs. I’ve been trying all types of searches on Google, but just haven’t found anything. Any guideance would be greatly appreciated.

Try a search on this forum. Just in the last month I’ve seen some great suggestions and others have provided links to books and what not. There’s a great resource right here for starters.

Sound isolate the rooms. I recommend this book:

    https://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/EPAmanual.htm

“Quieting in the Home”. Previously reprinted by the EPA as “Quieting: A Practical Guide to Noise Control”. 120 Pages, 8.5″ X 11″ Profusely illustrated. Technically accurate, yet simple and non-technical.

    Hey Jon

the web is a great resource for all the tech underwear like proper cabling and soundproofing

but you should ask your clients waht they want. talk to them about what they dont like about other places. do they want to sit next to you? behind you? how about desk space? wi fi? phone lines? lighting? does a big screen make sense, or are they intetested in proper color monitoring? or both? and dont forget amenities like coffee, food, restrooms, and parking

sure some clients probabaly wont know what they like until they see it, but maybe some can give you insight as to layout and flow

we have actully desiigned our room so clients sit next to me, and we have an accurate color monitor as well as a large screen.

this way we offer a nuts and bolts work environment as well as a “hollywood experience” to make final showings memeorable

    hope this helps
