  • Depth of file storage before FCP can not find the clips.

    Hello,

I teach at a university where they use a large storage system known as FibreJet where the clips for Final Cut Pro are captured and stored.

Often FCP can not find the clips.

We re-direct the system to where the clips are located and sooner or later, they “disappear” again.

I am wondering if it could be that the storing system at the university is placing the clips too far down and away from the root of the storing system and this is why FCP loses them.

Is FCP limited as to how far away from the root of any storage area can clips be stored?

Do not let anyone know, but I am also thinking that perhaps the FibreJet system is starting to show its age…

Any ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.

    Thanks,

    Bert

You aren’t routing your scratch disks through aliases are you? I’ve seen people try that, and FCP will hate you for it. Beyond that, I’m not aware of any sub directory limitation of Final Cut. Have you tried trashing your preferences?
