Probable. LG was the “back company” for many of the consumer electronics we’ve purchased through the years with various company nameplates on them.
Not sure if it’s still the same, but I was told by an engineer two years ago that all Plasma screens were made by two companies and just branded with the various nameplates.

January 1, 2006 at 8:40 pmBeen some speculation that Apple uses the B grade and Dell uses the A grade. My new 23″ Cinema display is good so far but does have the backlight bleeding (or whatever it is called) issue. Afraid to return it. May not get better one from what I am reading.

January 2, 2006 at 4:55 amI’m on my second Dell 2405. The first had some really annoying dead pixels that flickered at different times. The replacement has no dead pixels, but when it’s shut off, the display emmits a very high pitch squeal, or tone. It’s not loud, but it’s noticable. My solution is to just leave it on and let it go into standby mode where it doesn’t make that sound.

January 4, 2006 at 11:29 pmI have both side by side, 23″ cinema display, and 24″ dell.
No problems at all with the dell, excellent value compared with the cinema display
Only noticeable difference is that as you move to the side, the dell contrast drops off quickly. Not good for large groups around the monitor at odd angles.
I would buy the dell again over the cinema display because of the better price and features.

Gary, what display(s) do you prefer to use when editing with FCP? Two Apple 23″ Cinema Displays? Two Dell 2405’s? One large monitor like the Apple 30″?
What computer display setup do you find the most useful?
Thanks,
Robert
