  • Dell M1210 audio soundcard not recognised – Any ideas? USB external soundcard?

    Hi guys,

I’m trying to install Xpress Pro 5.2 on a Dell M1210 (2GHz Duo Core, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm hard disk).

The soundcard is not supported by the Xpress Pro application and I get the error ‘No supported audio card found’ on startup and have to run it without audio. The on-board sound card driver is sigmatel.

I know the M1210 is not officially part of the Avid compatible list, but it’s frustrating given that everything else seems to work.

Does anybody have any ideas on a workaround for this?

I bought an Audigy Z2 PCMCIA card (which seems to be a common workaround for laptops that don’t have an Avid supported audio card) but the M1210 only has a PCI-Express slot. In other words the slot is too small for PCMCIA cards and I haven’t been able to find any PCI-Express cards that handle audio. Is there a USB external soundcard that can handle the job? Or has anyone got any other pointers or experience of successfully running XPress Pro on an M1210?

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.
