I’ve just bought a Dell 2407WFP monitor to replace my Samgung SyncMaster 940MW monitor. The Samsung is a 1280×720 res, whilst the Dell is 1920×1200 res.
I’m using this monitor in my Final Cut Pro edit system with a Blackmagic HD Extreme card.
I’m coming out of the Component breakout leads from the card and into the component inputs of the Dell monitor.
In Final Cut Pro I have settings to 720/50, even though footage was shot on JVC GY-HD111 at 720p/25p PAL.
The image looks really grainy and the colours learn horribly towards orange/yellow. The presenters face looks positively sunburned.
With my smaller 19″ Samsung, the images are stunning in comparison; is the Dell really that bad.
Can anyone advise the best way to come out of BM HD Extreme card and into this Dell monitor to get better results?

the dell has a VGA connector as well. I assume that you must have access to some PC lying around somewhere near you. Plug in your PC VGA output into the Dell. Does it look ok ?
The Dell 2407 is a fantastic product, but I just got a new one, and the DVI cable from Dell was defective, and the picture was all orange and horrible. I plugged the Dell into my PC (with the VGA cable) and it looked great. I got another DVI cable, and the problem was resolved.

Dell is fine via DVI, it is just total crap via Component.

Yup, that is the case with dell component/composite horrible qualty DA converters

I have not seen poor images with the analog hd inputs using ANALOG HD SIGNALS. Standard Def analog component looks horrible – but analog HD Y Pb Pr signals look fine – I am surprised that you have had bad results.Just remember – you could have a bad monitor !

Hello,
I have the same monitor and I output to the DVI connection on the Multibridge Extreme if ‘s SD it looks awful. But HD and HDV looks stunning quality when out put full resolution to the Dell.
It could be a bad monitor, or cable.

it’s not your monitor or cable – all LCD monitors, except the Panasonic BT-LH series of LCD montitors look terrible with STANDARD def. This includes the Apple Cinema display, and the HP 2335.

Get the Decklink HDlink, that may solve your problem.
