Dell 24-inch Display as an HD Monitor?

It’s ok, but nothing like my Panasonic 50″ Plasma. If you want to use it for your clients to monitor HD while you’re editing, it may not be bad. But the Panny is almost color accurate to my Sony reference monitor.

I have that monitor, but I use it for computer display.

I use a 2405FPW for Kona 2 and Kona 3 outputs all the time – specifically with the K2 or K3 box analog Y Pb Pr outputs. It works just fine – for both SD and HD (but SD looks like crap).

The Samsung 242T supposedly is a better monitor than the Dell (according to reviews)

It’s about the same price- or at most $100 more, and has the same inputs, etc.

I am just about to buy one as a main Mac monitor for a second edit suite I am about to set up, and eventually will get to test it
as a program monitor.

My other really sweet purchase for this new temporary suite is he Genelec 8020 powered speakers. Man these sound nice – are tiny and image like hell.
perfect for a serious online edit suite especially if you add the Genelec subwoofer.

I use my second Dell as a client monitor when editing. Nice and big and the color is very good. But I use it with Digital Cinema Preview and interestingly enough, the image is DARN good. I wonder how that would compare to the component feed from a Kona.

I take one of the SDI feeds from the Kbox with my LHe (it feels good to say that, you where right Walter), and feed that into the HDP which I have connected VIA DVI to one of my Dell’s

I have the VGA connected on the first Dell to my G4 and the DVI connected to the G5 as the main
I have the VGA connected on the second Dell to my G5 as the secondary monitory and the HDP connected via DVI (and my HD cable/PVR connected to the component)

I have the component from the Kbox feeding a downconvert signal to the PVM 14L2 (couldn’t afford the L5 at the time when I got the L2)
all in all it works pretty good

AJA recommends the component output of the K3 to monitor instead of converting to DVI or HDMI and I agree, on my Dell 2405 (the predesessor to the 2407) it looks great.
