FCP version 6.0.3

I’m to deliver a 73 minute project in QT ProRes (needs to be in range of 25-50GB) and would like some tips on doing this prior to exporting through compressor.
Here are some general questions:
1) prores vs prores HQ– which one and why?
2) due to rendering multiple layers while going through compressor, should this be exported in smaller chunks (say 10 min. or so) and then brought back into fcp and re-exported as a whole? If so, is there any loss?

1. HQ should be used if you have a lot of motion in the video… like a car race, or lots of fast pans… otherwise use the standard ProRes settings.

2. Nope, just export the whole deal… you don’t want to compress twice…

73 minutes in ProRes HQ SD 720×486 = 39.97 gigs
73 minutes in ProRes HQ HD 1920×1080 = 136.76 gigs

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the math. Project is 720p. So, what would is:
73 minutes in ProRes HQ HD 1280×720 = (___?___) gigs

BTW– what is the ratio formula?

I am using the AJA Data Rate Calculator. According to this program the 720P HQ is the same size as the 1080i HQ. 137 gigs and the bit rate is around 31mbs per second.
