Delivery in SD 16:9 FHA but 2 black bars?
Hi, im working on a TVC in 1080p and it’s finished in AE. I rendered out QT Animation in full resolution but have to deliver in SD 16:9 FHA. But due to the weird calculations (1050×576)in Adobe (using Encoder), when i convert to SD 16:9 FHA, there are 2 black bars on the sides. What’s the best way to get around this other these 2 alternatives i can think of?
-Convert the file using Compressor (I’m on PC so I have to bring the file to a Mac)
-Bring the HD comp to an SD widescreen comp and fit by width, thus cropping the top and bot a little.

I have the same problem sending a sequence to AME. I get two very thin black bars on the sides using the MPEG2-DVD preset. I don’t see the bars on playback as they seem to be hidden from the overscan. But still they should not be there. What gives?

The MPEG2 DVD is not specced for square pixel aspect ratio so it’ll do that.

It seems there’s no proper way around it within the Adobe platform. So it’s either black bars, or crop.

But you can fix it.
1. Go to AME Export settings page.
2. In upper left select “Output”
3. Select Scale to Fill.
4. Thin black bars on the sides are gone!Tom Daigon
