deleting files at the end of a project
Posted by Stewart Charles on October 20, 2009 at 2:53 pmAt the end of a project in fcp can you delete the project file and it deletes every thing else associated with it or do I have to go thought the final cut pro document files and manually delete any thing associated with the project I no longer want/need?
Thanks

October 20, 2009 at 3:36 pmYou have to delete everything, the project file is simple the instruction set. You can delete the media from inside FCP. Select the items and right-click to Make Offline. You have the option to remove from disk. This is a fatally destructive function. Once you do it the media is gone.
All the best,
Tom

Personally, I wouldn’t delete the project file. It takes up very little space & you never know when you’ll need to revisit the project somewhere down the road. With the project file, your edits are all in place & if you were working with tape media (that has been properly captured with timecodes), you could easily recapture them again with the project file.

May 8, 2014 at 10:22 amAloha from Kauai! I’m a 45 year old surfer from the islands very new to the digital media world, I love Final Cut Pro but been hitting some major stumbling blocks lately. Any advice on how to get more proficient with out reading long confusing manuals? Thank you! Aloha, David
