  • Delay of import files dialogue box appearing

Posted by Brendan Gibbons on July 5, 2011 at 12:15 am

As the subject says, I am experiencing a delay of almost 10 seconds of the file choser dialogue box appearing every time I choose to import files after creating a new event.

Just doing tests on a 2011 imac, no other applications open. Same thing happens if the last location of the dialogue box was an external drive or a internal drive (naughty me I know – media on internal drives, just for tests mind you)

Anyone else experience this at all?

On a similar note, quite often when you move the mouse to the edit menu there will a delay of 2-3 seconds before the menu drops down. Now I don’t normally use the mouse to access menus as I’m a keyboard freak…just an observation.

    cheers,

    Brendan

    Hey Brendan,

Did you try running ONYX on your machine. Any time I was having strange issues in FCP7, I would run ONYX, and it would clear up most issues. Here’s the link:

There is the usual warning to back up your drives before running ONYX, but I have been using it for years, and have never had an issue. I actually run ONYX every week on my system to keep it running in tip-top shape. Let me know if this works.

I’ll give it a whirl and see if it helps, use to use on my laptop, it’s weird though as it’s a very new imac and hardly anything installed on it.

    Cheers,

    Brendan

Trust me, doesn’t matter how new the system is. I have a super powerful Mac Pro tower I cut on every day, and a week into having it, was having permission problems. Ran Onyx. Problem solved. Keep me informed…..

Still had the same problems persisting after running onyx…. was a fresh system so bit the bullet and did a clean install of the OS.

The pleasure of messing with a non-production machine huh 😉

    cheers,

    Brendan
