Delay going into AE
Good Morning one and all,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I’ve just bought a lovely new MacPro Quad Core. I’ve installed the CS5 Production suite..
When I am using After Effects.. if I go into another programme.. then come back to AE.. there is a slight delay.. only about three or four seconds, where After Effects just sits there.. I can’t click or do anything.. then it bursts into life..
this doesn’t happen with any other programme.. just AE
has anyone experienced this.. got an answer.. as I am typing I’m thinking I should go and check the memory setups in AE.. but any help would be great.

Sorry.. didn’t think you would need to know exact specs.. I was kinda hoping someone would say.. it’s under preferences.. if only life was so simple eh !!

My guess is that you’re not reserving enough RAM for other applications. This means that when you switch back to After Effects, contents of RAM are being swapped to the hard disk.

Thanks for the reply.. I’ve been playing about with the settings since you replied to my post..and I can’t really see any difference..
I’ve got 20 gig of ram.. and I’ve allowed 10 for other programmes..
but there still is a delay..
I’m going for 12 others and 8 AE..
will keep you posted
