  deinterlacing video for export

  I’ve got a project where i’m mixing:

  – 24p footage (from a dvx100b) shot with the widescreen matte that was captured at 29.97.
  – straight 29.97 dv (from a pd150) no widescreen matte.

  I’m working on a 29.97 timeline. I’m having two issues:

  1. the dv footage from the pd150 just doesn’t match the 24p footage from the dvx100. Naturally I’d like to make the pd150 look softer and match the 24p stuff. I’ve heard there are filters from nattress that does this…is it really that easy? Or are there other options i should/can try before I shell out $100 to nattress?

  2. On a tv monitor the project looks ok, but after exporting with no compression to quicktime, and viewed on a computer monitor the interlacing is terrible – all objects with motion have jaggady edges and the widescreen matte from the dvx100 vibrates…this applies to the footage from both cameras as well.

  I’ve tried the deinterlace filter in FCP as well as the deinterlace feature in quicktime conversion….

  Anyone have suggestions on either front?
