I’ve got my default trans set to Constant Gain and Cross Dissolve….I think. I’ve got a red box around both of them. So couldn’t I assume that Applying a default transition where there is both audio and video that both transitions would be applied?

Applying the transition seems to only work at time, and not the clip which is why there are a few discussions about why you can’t apply it to multiple clips at once which are already on the timeline. Ok, that makes sense and yes, it’s pretty fast to PageDown, Ctrl+D, and repeat until finished.

But I am only getting the Cross dissolve. What am I missing? I tried unlinking the audio for whatever reason.

I’m sure I’m just missing some crazy simple thing, but I can’t find it, and I couldn’t find it here. I did search, but with no luck.

Please help. This will be a lot of dragging and dropping.

As I recall there are separate shortcuts for adding video and audio effects.

    I swear I tried Ctl+Shift+D.

After I found that I notice there Is a way. Search “Default” and you’ll find “Apply Default Transitions to Selection”

And wouldn’t you know it, That applies it to Everything that’s selected, regardless of where the head is on the located on the timeline. I like that even better.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. Sometimes all it takes is someone to poke your brain into realizing the mistake.

Ctrl+D is for the video Ctrl+Shift+D is for the audio but you need to select the tracks first before adding the default transition otherwise it wont work.
I set Apply default transition to selection to D.
If you want just the video hold Alt and select, same goes for the audio.
