Default sound card not retained.
Just started using a new sound card and it refuses to remain selected in AE’s preferences.
Every time I open AE, I have to reselect it under hardware and then again under output routing, it’s really annoying and often I find that the audio preferences revert back to “windows audio” as soon as the preferences window is closed, it mostly takes 4 or 5 attempts before this card wil remain selected.
As far as I know this is a good card, it’s an Edirol ua 101 (Roland) . . cost me a fair wack too.
Any ideas what’s going wrong?

such a random problem is hard to diagnose. You can write protect the preferences file until it’s resolved. At least that way, it won’t reset…in the meantime, I suggest updating all drivers.
