    Hi all,

I just recently helped a client install a Decklink SP card into his Dell Workstation 470. He is using Premiere Pro 2.0. I got everything working great for him except one thing. When capturing, there is no video on the NTSC monitor. Once captured, you can play back the file and it appears on the NTSC monitor. Is there a setting I have missed that will allow video to pass thru to the monitor while in capture mode?

    Thanks for your help!

In the control panel, you can configure to play black on the output to sync a VTR. You should disable that or put it on the other output (SDI or analog).

    Hi Rob,

Dell Workstations are not certified for use with DeckLink cards and are currently unsupported. This is mentioned on our list of Certified DeckLink

    Yves and Luke,

Thanks so much for your responses.

Yves – I will have him try that – THANKS!

Luke – I was unaware of the non-support of Dell Workstations, but in this case it looks like his workstation is up to the task – at least almost completely. Everything works fine with the card other than the video pass thru, and maybe Yves solved that one as I do remember setting that output to be used as sync. Thanks again for your help.

    You guys rock!

    Hi Rob,

I do hope that you will be able to get the system going but it does sound to me as though the performance of the system may be marginal and right on the edge of what will and won’t work.

If you are trying to monitor via component output, then Yves suggestion should work. When connected to a deck, the DeckLink card has the option to output a stable black signal to the deck so that the deck can just lock on to that and be in sync with the DeckLink card. The alternative is to buy a blackburst generator at extra cost so that’s why we include the (free) black output feature. In your case, disabling the black output feature should help with monitoring via analog output.
