Decklink SP and new drivers beyond 5.6.2?
Posted by James Reid on October 12, 2006 at 8:58 pmIs there anything to be gained for this card’s abilities, to update past 5.6.2 drivers?

October 13, 2006 at 5:26 amHi,
Yes, Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 had a capture accuracy fix in it and we also had to tweak our DeckLink 5.7.1 drivers to fully benefit from this update. So you were correct in guessing that DeckLink 5.7 didn’t add anything new for the DeckLink SP as they were released when Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 was still current. Now that Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 has been released, I would recommend you update to the latest DeckLink 5.7.2 drivers.

October 13, 2006 at 6:05 amThanks. I am now running Final Cut Pro 5.1.2, and OS X 10.4.8.
I ran the deinstall included with the 5.7.2 package first.
With the new 5.7.2 drivers I have to click in the “Deck” window
in Blackmagic Deck Control for a preview of the video capture via component.
This was not required with the 5.6.2 drivers.
Is this normal behaviour? -

Yes this is normal behavior with the newer drivers. We’d had requests to make the Playback window default to output when Blackmagic Deck Control was launched. In the past it used to default to showing the Deck output. Well spotted!
