  • Decklink SDI to HDLink to Dsiplay Porrt coming in as extended Desktop?

Posted by David Smith on July 29, 2011 at 6:51 am

    Hello all,

I just received my HDLink Display port today and connected it to my Grading monitor and my Decklink card but can’t get a full screen picture from FCP or Resolve (no matter how I set it in Easy Setup, external playback, etc). The user interface on my GUI is fine, just no fullscreen picture on my 2nd monitor.

    I have a troubleshooting question:

I AM GETTING a picture on my second monitor as an extended desktop from my 1st monitor (I can move my mouse from monitor to monitor). Should I be getting an extended desktop on my 2nd monitor while using the Decklink to SDI to HDLink to Display Port(monitor)?

Before I received the HDLink I had a setup using Decklink HDMI to my HDMI Television – Resolve and FCP user interface & full screen picture played just fine like that on both monitors… but there was no extended desktop.

It seems to me I should not have an extended desktop and I have something set wrong?

Sorry, I’m not sure how clear I’ve stated my problem & Question…

    Thanks for any help!

Hi David, I’m not really sure how you have this connected so back to basics.
Resolve UI monitoring is from the computer graphics card, usually via DVI or mini display port. The video output appears on the Decklink hd-sdi BNC and with the right card also the hdmi out. Normally you would connect the HD-SDI from the Decklink to the Hd-link and then the hdLink display port to your grading monitor. There is no ui out on the hd-sdi of the Decklink so if you are seeing that I think you may have it cabled incorrectly.
    Does this help?

    Thanks for the reply!

I’m kinda embarrassed about this one. I discovered I still had the display port connected to my GUI card and had not plugged it into the HDLink yet…… oops!!!!

    Hi David

Using this configuration, are you able to export the full screen of your 1st monitor to the 2nd one?

    Regards
    Marcelo
