    Hi,

We are experiencing a strange behaviour with our Decklink Extreme (dual Xeon, WinXP, Nvidia QuadroFX1400).
Ultimately on reboot the display on our principal monitor seems to be overriden
by the video monitor. I get a black screen on the VGA monitor and the windows desktop
only appears on the SDI output. In the device manager only the Decklink is activated, the Nvidia Display
gives an error. Disactivating the Decklink allows us to boot on the VGA monitor and use the SDI monitor
as a frame buffer but we loose the extended desktop function.
Is there any kind of incompatibility, or some display options we are missing on the Nvidia side ?

    Thanks,

    Jerome

I suspect the “desktop output” for the Decklink is enabled. Go to the monitor properties (via your SDI monitor) and disable the 2nd or 3rd monitor, whichever is the Decklink. (un-check “extend Windows Desktop to this monitor”). Might require a re-boot. I’ve had related issues when updating the DL drivers.

    Hope it helps,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Yes I expect that will work around Jerome’s problems. It’s a good idea to ensure you are running current NVIDIA drivers. NVIDIA also has its own extended desktop feature and it might be that both the DeckLink and NVIDIA desktops will not coexist together. Jerome could experiment with disabling the NVIDIA desktop and then see if he can use the DeckLink desktop.

    Hi,

    Thanks for responding.
The trouble here is that we entered a strange dynamic where re-installing the DL drivers will
cause the Nvidia display to not initiate correctly. If I disable in the device manager the DL
display, then on reboot the Nvidia takes over and boots on the VGA monitor but the DL wants to
install the display drivers another time. Sometimes I even get the blackmagic display on the
VGA monitor ; and now, the framebuffer doesn’t seem to work anymore. I will try to uninstall
everything ( NVidia and BM drivers) and I will tell you…
