  • DeckLink HD Extreme 3D – quality issue when downconverting

Posted by Mike Lary on August 13, 2011 at 5:24 am

We’re running OS 10.6.8 on a MacPro, printing from FCP 7.0.3 to DigiBeta through Decklink HD Extreme 3D with latest driver installed. When downconverting HD source to DigiBeta we get a lot of jagged edges, artifacts, and general corruption in the image. When printing HD source out to HD deck, we have no problem. This system and configuration has worked in the past.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your fcp videoplayback settings should be HD for proper downscaling.
Then set proper hd to sd settings in decklink control panel.

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. All of those settings are correct. Any other ideas?

Resolved. This was a hardware configuration issue. We were running out of the Decklink card through a port that does not support downconversion. We switched to the other port and all is fine. A schematic of the card is what tipped us off to the port’s limitation.
