We just purchased a Decklink HD Extreme 3d Plus card for use with Final Cut Pro and soon Davinci Resolve. We have a 42″ OLED TV mounted above our Edit bay monitors for client reference that is hooked up through a 50 foot HDMI cable (our computer is located in a machine room across the hall from our suite). We where using a Matrox LE system before to feed the TV and there where no issues. But now with the Decklink Card, there is a strange color fringe that is causing a rainbow of colors to display across the image.

I’ve played around with settings on the drivers and nothing has changed. The only thing I can think of is maybe the cable run is too long? Anyone else experience this before?

    Thanks,
    Kyle Krupinski

How were you connecting Axio LE to HDMI? Axio LE does not have HDMI I/O if I remember right:

    https://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/products/axio/en_AxioLE.pdf

Only Cat2 HDMI cables are guaranteed to work for up to 49ft:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Cables

It doesn’t mean a Cat1 won’t work, it’s just only Cat2 is guaranteed so. Bottom line, it seems that you’d want to order a Cat2 cable.

Also, if you ever plan to monitor 1080p, 4K, 3D (i.e. transmit that signal over to the TV), you may need to get an HDMI extender, or a cable that is specifically guaranteed to transmit 4K/3D.
