  • Decklink Extreme HD 2 – HDMI playout text problems

    I’m using the Decklink HD Extreme on a Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio 2. I connected via hdmi a Philips lcd 37PFL5603D, full HD 1080P, for playout. The first impression is that text is not clean but tear, is like when you don’t set a correct pixel aspect ratio or when you stop the FCP timeline and the frame freeze displaying only one field.

    I used the following setting:

    Sequence setting: Blackmagic HDTV 1920 x 1080i 25;
    Playback setting: Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 25HZ;
    Pixel aspect ratio: square
    Decklink control panel: output via HDMI

    Playout via component to a Sony PVM Broadcast Monitor 14″ is perfect and the text is oustanding, with every kind of setting (from 720X576 to 1920X1080).
    Furthermore the image quality via hdmi seems very compressed with HDV footage or P2 footage.

    I tried on the same lcd (Philips lcd 37PFL5603D) blu-ray discs or satellite channels but the text is clear and without artifacts.

    Its possible that a 1920 X 1080 10 bit sequence played with a HDTV card in 1920 x 1080 10 bit mode via HDMI on a LCD with 1920 X 1080 resolution doesn’t display properly text and graphics ?

    Thanks in advance for your help.
