  • Decklink Extreme 5.1 – Capture prob in FCP 5.0.1

I’m having trouble with capture in FCP using a Decklink Extreme version 5.1. I mark my in and out points, go to capture, and it never recognizes my out point. It keeps digitizing and I can only cancel the capture, which does not save anything. This problem does NOT occur when i use the Blackmagic deck control utility to capture clips. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers – to no avail. Also tried reinstalling the 5.0.1 FCP update. And trashed all prefs, zpped PRAM, ran disk utility. Same problem. . This is using Mac OS 10.4.2. Device setting is “Blackmagic NTSC 29.97MHz.” Also tried different TC settings (VITC, LTC, LTC/VITC – same prob).

This problem occurs with driver versions: 5.0, 5.0.1r2, and 5.1. I went back to 4.8 and all is well — at least as capture is concerned.

    Hi Andrew,

What VTR are you capturing from?

Have you tried toggling the various RS422 protocol options in the Device Control Presets? For example, if you’re using a Panasonic VTR, switch to ‘Panasonic RS422’ in the Protocol option.

    regards

It’s a UVW-1800. I’ve not tried other presets as I’ve never had a problem with this machine in FCP, and it worked fine in earlier decklink versions.

I installed my old Keyspan serial/USB adapter and encountered the same prob. So reintalled FCP, then FCP 5.0.2, then 5.1 decklink drivers and all is OK now. I had other strange problems, too…like no preview in capture window.

    Thanks,
    Andrew
